3.25m Brits planning to move home

Despite volatility in the property market, 3.25 million homeowners
are planning to move in the next 12 months.
That is according to new research from Alliance & Leicester,
which also looked at the steps people are taking to add value to
their home.
After lender HBOS predicted recently that UK house prices will fall
by nine per cent by the end of this year, savvy owners are taking
steps to add value to their properties, with 19 per cent intending
to make home improvements in the next year in order to improve
saleability.
The most popular way to do this is the redecorate, with 69 per cent
of respondents in the bank's survey going for this option.
Improving outdoor space and carrying out routine maintenance came
in second and third place.
Richard Taylor, head of mortgage products at Alliance &
Leicester, commented: "Even within the current climate, there are
still millions of people who are looking to move and they are doing
all they can to get the best price for their property."
