Hips 'do not adversely affect the market'
Home Information Packs (Hips) are not having a detrimental effect on the
housing market, an industry expert has claimed.
Speaking to Home Move, Mike Ockenden, director general of the
Association of Home Information Pack Providers (AHIPP), commented that
new research "clearly negates claims that the property market is in
any way adversely affected by Hips".
He made the statement following the release of a report carried out
by Connells Survey and Valuation, which revealed that there was a
nine per cent increase in the number of valuations carried out in
January 2010, compared with the same month in 2009.
Mr Ockenden added that the AHIPP will "work tirelessly" to educate
the public about the benefits of Hips over the coming months.
On February 3rd, the Property Codes Compliance Board published the
results of an audit which found that personal searches are just as
reliable as local authority searches, with the majority of
practitioners complying with the relevant codes of
practice.
